If you  are looking for a Pre-school with a difference, run by a Play Therapist with twenty-five years experience working with kids, a background in psychology and Montessori pre-school teaching, then the Mucky Lane Pre-school welcomes you!
Most parents feel that they have to choose between sending their child to playschool or Montessori and are totally unaware that an integrated approach is available at The Mucky Lane pre-school.
We take a holistic approach, using Montessori materials as a curriculum guideline while supporting your child to use their initiative to discover, experience, experiment and learn. Our behavioural management policy is second to none and is based on the most recent research in neuroscience. This shows that children flourish when guided by caring adults who attuned to their needs.  For this reason we believe that young children (2 ˝ to 5 year olds) need greater adult/child ratios.  Therefore, we guarantee two adults working with no more than ten children .

Tips for parents

Did you ever wonder why pre-school kids just don't seem to listen?  Often it is down to the language we use.

Consider keeping it simple:

Positive language is the way to go.  Label the behaviour that you want to see.  For example, instead of “stop running” say, “We walk inside”.

Instead of bombarding kids with lots of language when you want something done like tidying up.  Just state the obvious.  For example, instead of saying "we need to clean up and I want you to help.  Put that away now, come on we have to go and get your brother from school".  Try slowing it down, give a thirty second warning, then count backwards from ten (like a rocket launch!) and simply say "it's time to tidy up now".

PRE-SCHOOL SETTING

When you see your child skipping in the door you know it's a good environment!

It's the calm atmosphere that appeals to me.

 ..

There's a lovely open feel to the entire place. It's bright and light with huge windows and it feels like the garden comes right into the room.

The Mucky Lane Pre-School is a custom built school, privately owned and was built without Government funding.
